The results are in, and Lynette O won the Vibrant Girl magazine giveaway. Congrats Lynette! I emailed you with the details.

Now, for the random thoughts.

  1. I’m taking a red eye flight tonight. I hate red-eye flights, but I’m taking melatonin and praying I’ll sleep.
  2. I’m going to Amanda Gingerich and Bryce Wenger’s wedding, and I don’t really know anyone there except the bride, so if you also happen to be going please say hi!
  3. Recently I’ve been feeling like the only books left to read are boring ones. If you have any recommendations for fun fiction books that are either A. cheap on Kindle, or B. were famous enough in their day that they’re probably in most used book stores, please kindly leave them in the comments.
  4. I have some really cool blog posts coming up. So don’t be discouraged by this semi-boring one.

    Hey, I’ve got a note on #3. Have you ever heard of Overdrive? It is an app that many libraries have and through it you can borrow many e-books and audiobooks for free. My recommendation is to go into your local library and see if they have the option of an Overdrive account. If they do, you may have many more free e-books within your grasp than you initially thought. It works like a library, with only certain copies available, so you may have to place a hold to get some of the more popular titles. It won’t have everything, but even my small town library has quite the selection. I LOVE it and listen to audiobooks on it while I’m working. I’ve listened to at least 15 audiobooks since the end of May! 😀

    Have you read The Lord of the Flies? Highly recommend…and yes it’s famous enough to be cheap.

    Have you read Chesterton’s Father Brown mysteries? I find the rest of his fiction too dense (that doesn’t mean you will), but the stories are gems.

    And Father Brown is in most libraries. No idea about Kindle, I only read paper. 🙂

      I really recommend Skipping Christmas, and The Mysterious Benedict Society. Also, you can WATCH Skipping Christmas, except it’s called Christmas With The Kranks now. I recommend the video the most, though!! It’s hilarious:)

    Have you read the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries by Dorothy Sayers? I love these, and they are often on sale for Kindle.

    Rumer Godden’s In This House of Brede is one of my favorites of all time. I see it on sale occasionally too.

    Watership Down is fun!

    Sorry, this is a little behind, but I just wanted to say that you should read the Betsy-Tacy books. The first ones you might find kind of boring, they’re about when Betsy and her BFF, Tacy were 5. The last book is when she and Tacy get married. The books are, in this order:
    1. Betsy-Tacy
    2. Betsy-Tacy and Tib (Tib was their best friend, too)
    3.Betsy and Tacy Go Over The Big Hill
    4. Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown
    5. Heaven To Betsy
    6. Betsy In Spite Of Herself
    7.Betsy Was a Junior
    8.Betsy and Joe
    9. Betsy and The Great World
    10. Betsy’s Wedding

    Heaven to Betsy-Betsy and Joe are the high school books. You just have to read the. And yes, they are on kindle. The easiest way to get them would be to get them in 4 books- The first 4 books in one volume, The next 2 books in one volume, the next two books in one volume, and the last two books in one volume. So you have 4 huge books. Naturally, those big books cost a bit more than just the regular books, but whatever you want. Also, Betsy started writing stories at age 5, and started reading soon after. By the last book, she was selling stories like crazy!!! In Betsy and The Great World, World War Two was starting!! They were written by Maud Hart Lovelace. Please. Read them!!!
